At a time when apparel production was solely carried out on domestic sewing machines, and there were only few companies involved in apparel export, two brothers, Arif Ali Rashid and Asif Ali Rashid, envisioned a future for the apparel export industry of Pakistan with new ideas for apparel  machinery. With this perceived outlook, Almurtaza Machinery Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. was formed in 1970. Almurtaza Machinery Co. initiated the marketing of foreign apparel machinery in Pakistan and has since, played a key role in the development of the apparel manufacturing industry
